Birthday Present for Bella.
March 2005
As everyone knows a Bevel Ducati should have conti exhaust. Bella had not. She had some ugly, fat Silentium silencers so I was thinking that I should surprise her at her birthday with some Contis.

My 1984 MHR 900 had here 21 year birthday in March 2005 and she got a set of brand new Contis in present.

She has been on Swiss register during the whole life and due to the Swiss regulations she was never allowed to breath properly during here first 20 years of life. Now she is French/Swedish so she is allowed to breath. Loud exhaust is not a problem in my country. It is more like something that belongs to bikes.

I unpacked the Contis in front of here smiling headlight and told here that she will get a new life today. I installed them. Took the carbs in pieces for cleaning and changed the jetting. Installed it, synchronized the carbs. At the same time I lowered the front a bit more to quicken here up a bit. Refueled here and went off.

Hmm. Sounds nice. Big difference to the standard Silentium. Stopped and
adjusted the carbs a little. Runs nice. Waiting for the oil to warm up.
Adjusted a bit more.

Trying to give it a bit more. Nice. Soon she was
properly warmed up and I found a nice twisty road. Opened here up more. She was running like dream. The sun was shining and it was 20 degrees Celsius.

Life is wonderful some times isnt it!

Went faster and faster. She transformed completely from an fat old lazy dog  to a very quick and flickable (well almost) slim and hot babe with here lowered front and the Contis. Above 5000 she starts to sing like nothing I never have been driving before  (I have never been on a bevel with Contis before) not to talk above 6000RPM. She is now very powerful and quick and I am surprised that and old bike like this with so much weight and only something like 55 hp can be so fast.

200km went faster the ever. It was like a 20 minutes ride. Started heading
home and I was thinking. Hmmm should I sell my old monster. If I do I can
buy another bevel or maybe a F1 to have next to Bella. My monster is actually
a highly tuned desmoquattro with 110 hp at the rear wheel  that runs super
perfect with a lightened crank, different cams, modified cam timing for more
grunt, different headers with open exhaust that handles better then
anything I ever have been riding, but I was thinking.  I dont need a
desmoquattro when Bella runs like this. I just found the meaning of life.

The meaning of life is a properly set up bevel with 40mm dellortos and
Contis. I can now say that I fully understand why so many people loves
bevels so much. They just have it all.

Anyway to make a long story not to long. What do I do when I come home.

Guess if you can. For the first time in my life I dropped a bike. I dropped
Bella!!! I was just taking here down from the center stand. The surface was
not competely flat and Sccrrattcchhh. OOOHHHH shit!!!! No!!!!
I dropped Bella on here brand new Conti on the right side and I was just reminded that she is still a very heavy bike when she is not running. The good thing is that the fairings are very strong fiberglass and the owner before me must have done the same so it was no damage except for a few more scratch next to the old ones and a small scratch on the right conti. Why did I not drop here the day before when she had the ugly silentiums??? Why did I have to scratch the brand new Conti? Well, Cèst la vie as they say in France

I learned a lesson and I can tell you that I will be more careful in the future.

Even with my little miss happening I can say that I went to bed with a big smile.

Bevels kicks as.
